Torque wrench?

I know, i know... im asking a lot of questions... But i need the insight!

I'm going to invest in a torque wrench however i have two criteria, i don't want to spend the world and i want a nice universal item i can use throughout the bike (but mainly for the engine work) i understand the head bolts can be around 40nm but the rear wheel nut can be in excess of 110? is there an item for everything or should i just buy one that will be suitable for the head work which in my opinion is alot more important.

Sadly to cover the complete bike you`ll need to invest in `likely` two, there are quite a few models out there to choose from too.
Go onto Ebay and have a look around at 3/8" drive and 1/2" drive varients. OR, try Machine Mart, again a large range but I`ll warn you..........................

I have a Warren and Brown (same as Sidchrome) deflecting beam torque wrench which covers most things on the bike. Can't remember if it's 1/2" 0r 3/8"

Cheers lads, im only young so havent acquired many tools having only been alongside bikes for 4 years now but did recently invest in a halfords professional socket set and i can only say that it is too right that quality tools make a difference. I love chrome vanadium!

Anyway, thanks for the info, i'll perhaps spend a few more quid than i fancy then as at least it should last a lifetime if i do get a decent one. And a tool that important must be worth a few quid, surely?

Cheers mate, the halfords ones do look good and all their top end gear has a lifetime gurantee, but the price is a little more than i wanted unfortunately! i'll have to see what i can come up with!

You do occasionally see bargains on Ebay but not too regularly, try going to car boot sales too, I`ve nabbed some great tools at booties.

I often go to one at a place nearby called sedgefield, its fairly big, and you often see tools, but they never come up when you need them
