Front brakes a drag.

The front left disc caliper on my bike is dragging. I've cleaned the caliper, but still it doesn't fully release the disc. I'm wondering if the problem is with the master cylinder? By the way, thew bike is an imported model into Australia and runs Brembo calipers. Any ideas/suggestions???

You may have to pop the pistons out, fully clean everything up and fit new seals etc. I very much doubt it`s got anything to do with the master cylinder.

Thanks mate, that's what I was thinking. Already given it a good clean, but will replace the seals next.

Just as a thought shop around and you may find some bluespots for $50 to $80

If you are going to o/haul them make sure you clean the groove the seal sits in very well.

Well, got the new seals and pistons in today.......and the bloody caliper is still dragging! Not sure what to check next. Any ideas???

I had a similar problem on the rear brake on the old bonnie and found the brake line was full of crud. it could push fluid down under pressure but had problems returning it all the way.

make sure that you havent cut off a section of your dust seal whan you fitted the actuating piston and it is fouling the piston and the caliper bore...just found that out this arvo with my six potters...the piston should be able to be pushed in with finger strength...

Hi, I had a very similar problem, stripped calipers twice, rebuilt twice, bought blue spots, still dragged, alway one side, turned out to be the disc, it was not warped as in wavy and pulsing through the lever but had flicked over around the top edge and was shaped kind of like a plate, ever so slightly dished, I found this out by gripping it (when it was cold, as it got real hot!) and flexing the edges back and forth, mine would stick in the true plane where it was supposed to be, but assoon as you touched it it would flick the outside edge away from the rim by about 2-5mm (never bothered to measure and it was a while ago!) Lucky for be I had some on a spare wheel, put them on,....bike went faster after that!

Probalby spot on! ...change side of discs and see if it travels...??

Just been out to have a look and you should be able to check by puttin a straight edge across the disc just in front of the fork leg steel rule would be good and will save a bit af spannerwork (and some knuckleskin maybe!)
