Down, but not out.

Post by cheap_trix » Wed Nov 08, 2006 7:48 am

Well. I dropped my bike for the first time this afternoon.
I'm so pissed!
I rode down to the hardware to get some stuff and as I was turning and braking into the drive, I hit some gravel on the bitumen that I did not see.
Needless to say, the front end washed out and down I went.
Luckily I had mickjmags crash bungs. They limited the damage on the left hand side to: scrached mirror, scrached case, gouged can and broken exhaust/rear peg bracket. Though it looks like the bolt through the crash bung is quite bent.
I was wearing my gloves and Dragin jeans so no scraches for me, though my lower palm/ wrist and knee took a good knock.

The fact you're okay is most important. The last thing we need is another invalid!

It does seem to be a worrying trend around here recently though... Makes me wonder if it's time to park mine for the winter!

Glad to hear you're OK.
That said, you need a good kick up the backside for being careless with your TRX. That's almost as bad as turning it into a street-fighter !!!
Rubber side down, Red side up is my preferred riding style.

I still hope it´ll never happen to me....fingers crossed...but it will probably!

Good your OK and the damage seems quite minor in regards to flunk it around a roadsign.
Let´s hope you´ve had yours and never get it again!

Cheers

Glenn sorry to hear about your unscheduled dismount mate luckily no permanent damage to you.
A similar thing happened when Mrs M was using the 'rex last year :angryfire: with similar results on the RH side i.e. bent front brake lever, scratched mirror, indicator, tiny mark on case all of which needed some patching up or replacing #-o Worst was a gouge on (stainless) RH can, which i agonised over and in the end took to local metal polisher who to my surprise and relief removed virtually all the scratches for about $40. Mrs M was also pleased as she didn't appreciate being in the bad books. (That reminds me, she hasn't ridden it lately :-k ...)
Good luck with the repairs.
