R1 Front End

Feeling V pleased with myself, have just fitted my R1 front end - did all the work and have just taken it for a short shakedown run, nothing fell off and it did not spit me into a hedge. First impressions are that it is compliant yet stiff and well damped, haven't gone nuts on it as still making sure evrything was properly tightened up and taking evrything really steady.

The bike is minging dirty, so will not put any pics up till I have given it a really good clean. Need to remake some spacers as didn't realise how much the TRX wheel was offset.

Yep, you have to watch the wheel offset!
I`ve got mine within 0.006 mm using some modified disc bolts that enabled me to very accurately measure between their heads and the inside of the R1 fork leg.
Are you using an electronic speedo SDN?

Yeah sorry, running with TRX speedo, had to take 5.75mm off RHS fork leg to get wheel lined up, running TRX wheels and axle , with the R1 item bushed to accept TRX axle ( Thanks Killer Whale for the idea ). Clip ons are below yokes which is a bit heavy on the wrists, so may have to buy some raised clip ons. Only remains to fit the FCR's

Would you post up a few pics of the fork lowers and axle please? I know you have to bush the r/h side but can't figure out a way around the left side being threaded.

I made a stepped threaded bush which screws into the fork lower, the thick end of the bush is tapped to M16, I shortened the TRX axle by cutting it off on the hex head side and boring a nut out and welding that on the end of the shortened axle

So does the axle still thread into the fork leg, or just the stepped bush?

The wheel spindle screws into the inner thread of the boss that is threaded into the left hand fork leg kayla.

As Mincehead says, the bush screws into the fork from the wheel side and the axle screws into the bush. On the other side I made a plain split bush.
