R6 Rear Shock...?

Post by M.V. » Fri Jul 01, 2011 3:36 am

Apparently I've bought an R6 rear shock from a 2001 model... Go eBay!

Any idea if this will fit my TRX?

Thanks for the heads up Mario, but that's Kayla on here, I've already ordered the adaptor from her, just need to find the right shock, third time lucky!

Oh, BTW, the shock from the american R6S won't fit, just FYI.

Like I said, third time lucky.

06 onwards... someone mentioned about the red spring 06/07 model may have a progressive spring and check the later silver model ones may have a linear spring.

I'm looking at a silver one at the moment, do I want progressive or linear?

I'd be happy with a linear, constant rate.. silver will look nice too.

Well, I made another stupid offer (06/07 model, with the correct fitting!) & it was accepted, $65 us dollar plus postage, should work out under $100 Aus.

I got the red one, I can always change out the spring later, it might be sprung a little soft for me anyhow...

Heaps!

Nah, about 100kg give or take. Using the R6, Race Tech calc reckons a 10.3kg/mm (or 10.5 for racing) spring, the nearest they have is 10.7kg/mm. Standrard spring is 9.8 apparently.

About the same for the TRX, but I think their imperial to metric conversion is a bit off, unless it uses weight distribution...

Yeh they normally are a bit low in rates for the rear if you use Loaded and static sag values. I raced an R6 they said 9.3 I ended up with a 10.5 and I'm 83kg. I'm going to fit a 10.5 to my TRX. 100 Kgs I'd be looking round 11.0 to 11.5 or else you will run low static to get a reasonable loaded value.

Thanks MM, I'll give it a try with the standard shock & see how it goes, replacement spring won't cost too much if I decide I need on in the future anyhow.

Just waiting on the packages now.
