Its not really the A1 is it!

well lets hope I can remember that little lot! route is a bit boring, but unless Im travelling down with one or two others I would prefer a quicker journey, cause it will be 5 1/2 or 6 hrs in the saddle that day, not quite sure if that gets a smiley face or a d'oh face :|

If you want to meet at any point enroute or thereabouts give me a shout, and we can pm mobiles

21. Waterman will actually be on your left - you won't miss it tho

If you want to make your route more interesting for the final 15 miles or so do the A4177 from the Solihull end by cutting across from the M1 down the M42 (no more boring than the M1!) take the A4177 heading towards Knowle/Warwick (J5? away from Solihull) Nice fast sweeping section of country road with little or no police attention unless it's a Wednesday - this will now mean that the Waterman is on your right :D

Cal and Codger (and anyone else),

I'll be joining your route above at step 14 where you leave M1 and get on bottom of M69.

There a couple of McDonalds around J21 of M1 at Fosse Park, if anyone wants to meet up there for a coffee then do the rest of the journey from there?

Or if anyone wants to come over to LE9 (halfway between J20 and 21 on M1) for a break and a coffee at my place, then ride on from there (about 45 mins) to Waterman, just drop me a PM or post up here :D

Dave.

Mini meet @ j21 Mcdonalds? (...Doncha just love google maps...turn left at end of j21 exit slip then under A563 flyover follow road round 180 degree bend... and then straight over at roundabout to McDonalds...)
Then head on down to Waterman
That would work well for me asi'm not to familiar with down that neck of the woods and would more than likely end up somewhere I'm not supposed to be #-o

I just put M1 j21 onto google maps and pulled the streetveiw geezer down and around until it came up with a pic of the M1, it spat me out facing north on the wrong side of the road! so I done a U'y and there was the signpost for j21!how good is that!

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sourceid= ... 1&q=M1+j21

Dunno if that will work or not, suck it and see!

OK, the one on your map link Cal is the one at the motorway services so ignore that.

Theres one at LE19 1HY but that is in the Fosse Park shopping park so not good to get in and out of sometimes.

The one I mean, and the best one to meet at, is at LE19 1WZ, off the A563 roundabout, by Sytner BMW:

Get off M1 southbound at J21, follow A5460 for a short stretch east, then take the 'loopy' slip road up to the A563 outer ringroad roundabout and there it is, accessed off Meridian South Road.
