R1 Forks ??

Hi all, first post on this forum. I have been lucky enough to buy my first TRX last week, a 96 model in pretty good nick with 16000 mls on clock. Ive only ridden it up the road and back but everything seems good to go . The thing is the front forks are pitted and chrome is falling off and i cant have that so from looking at other posts on here the R1 forks seem to be the way to go. Can get hold of a 2001 R1 front end with yolks etc but is it really that easy?
Will i need to adapt? Hack, grind, hammer?

Maybe, if you want to bake a cake. If you want to fit the R1 forks to the TRX you'll need the R1 yokes

You need to swap the stems, the TRX stem needs TIG welding up and re-machining back down where it'll press into the R1 yoke because it's 0.3mm smaller than the R1 stem. You also need a top hat spacer for the R1 top yoke to sleeve it down to suit the TRX stem.

I did look on other posts on here so sorry to ask again but others did seem long winded and confusing but see now what needs doing, probably cos im a bit retarded . Im a welder so the welding part wont be a problem. I am sourcing a whole front end from R1 so should have everything i need. Id better crack on with it.

There are a couple o E bay right now and if you are around Essex then even better, There is one set due to end soonish and another set due ti end in a couple of days, both have forks, top and bottom yokes and spindle,

Thanks Cal, their the ones im looking at and im only down the road from there so not far. Really want to get it sorted as the usd front end on a TRX looks spot on, plus my forks have had it.
