Hey Guys

Well I have finally done it. Just bought my 2nd TRX from a dealer. $3800 AUD for a straight original bike with 65K, brand new Michelins and unmarked Staintune pipes. Didnt wany my trade (SZR660 naked cafe) but who cares, think I will keep it. Took a few bourbons and a lot of navel gazing to realize "what the fu*k, I just want it!"! Joke is, they could not wait to get rid of it. Anything more than 5 years old and dealers dont want to know.
Their loss my gain.

I remember my last one, brand new. Could not fault it. Only bailed because, at the time, did not want to owe money on anything. The cost of being self employed ;-(

Anyways. This bike will be good for one season without any work. Then FCR's, Over pipes, port job and re-ring. Obviously some suspension work. And then YEEHAAA... Summer is coming (down under anyways).

Must be a product of being old (52). Have had more bikes than birthdays. If someone gave me $20K and said "buy a new bike" I would be hard pressed to make a decision. I reccon bike styling peaked around 2000. Nothing new impresses me. OK an new Norton looks cool but hey its 16k pounds (god knows what AUD, if we had a distributor), the trx is pretty much the same deal plus its water cooled to boot!

Oh and I`ve got an MuZ Skorpion myself, XTZ660 motor `similar` to your SZR.

Well tomorrow is the big day. The ex (probably due to bikes) has agreed to give me a lift to pick up the bike. If it survives the 80k trip home without sh*tting itself then I probably got a good one. I will let all know about first impressions. I know that all who are reading either have one or are thinking about getting one. My first impressions after the test ride were "it's nice not to to have my knees up around my ears". The SZR is cramped to say the least. Nice easy power too. OK it's not a VTR/SV but we can fix that

A lot easier to work on too (big priority).

Hi All

Well the TRX is home now. I dont know about you guys, but my normal routine when buying a new bike as to agonise about it for a few days. Then do the deal and feel guilty about endlessly blowing money on bikes. Well I gotta say 10 minutes into the ride and all guilt had dissolved. I had forgotten what a fantasic bike the TRX was and is. Not much below 4 grand, likes to rev. Standard gearing is a bit tall. Dont bother putting it into top unless
you have 120k on the speedo. But smooth, comfortable, confidence inspiring with an incredible fun factor. The run home was 100 ks of cold wet conditions and I still had a silly grin on my face and just wanted to keep going.

Its pissing down now and my new/old bike is dirty. Shite, nothing is guaranteed to bring rain like a new bike. Cant wait for the weekend and maybe a little sun so I can give it a once over and do some riding. Just realised, weekend is tomorrow

Better check the weather!

They say some things are best left awhile to grow on you and once attached can't be rid off the TRX is one of them, enjoy.

Funnny you should say that about bike styling, but it has all got far to angular anf pointy for my taste - I took my 18 year old son into a bike shop - he's not into bikes at all, but as an artist he got good basic aesthetic sense. He couldn't get the modern bike style. His favorite was the Kawasaki W800 - which he said looked like a real motorbike. Thats going a bit far, but I know what he means

Located in Perth. Lived in VIC for a while. Good riding over there. Perth gets a bit boring, not much in the way of scenery or corners

Still pissing down with rain and have only got out a couple of times. Gave it a birthday and dont want to get it dirty. When will I learn ...
