aren't the gains on a trx to be seen more in the torque than the hp?

Doesn't matter. It's where the peak power / torque is that makes a difference

I've got Kent reprofiled cams, ported head, 0.5 up on the compression ratio, Power Commander and Akras on my TDM9 - doesn't make a huge amount of power but a healthy 69 at the wheel @ 5000 rpm - now that's useable on the road. As folks say - torque is more important unless your on the track and you have the gear ratios to suit........................
1996 TRX 850, blue, Ohlins 46HRCLS, Race Tech Gold Valves, 0.90 springs, Venom pipes, R6 brakes............
1974 Yamaha RD250A, Candy Blue
1998 Yamaha SZR660, blue of course
1967 Yamaha TD1C 250, Blue and white

With gas flowing (on top of free flowing pipe and air box) you might see 10 bhp but nothing more.

I have dyno charts somewhere that I can post.
What phuk said!!
Also have heard that the trx valve train is not up to the task with Veetwo cams.
Big cost no gains without other costly mods :-k

Cheers Mick

Hot cams usually narrow the power band and shift it higher in the rev range. Fuel consumption will also increase. It took me many years and thousands of wasted dollars to realise you don't need to hot the engine up especially if you are not red lining your bike at every gear change. It is much cheaper to buy a more powerful bike. How many of your friends ride their bike to the limit? I would suggest they ride with plenty in reserve therefore putting additional stress on your engine and drive train seems pointless. I do appreciate that it is nice to have a bike that is special, sounds nice and goes harder than you dare to ride. In conclusion do what ever you like and gives you pleasure and enjoy the ride.

you'll find that most on here have tuned for midrange and useability on the road. And that a lot of owners have previously owned more powerful bike - somer have even sold TRXs to move onto pastures new and come back again!

I've spent a good chcunk of money on my bike but don't regard any of it as wasted.

But I agree with you, most people don't need more power - but that doesn't stop them wanting it ;)

Welcome to the site btw.
