Winter overhaul!

Well, tomorrow I am going for a quick blast with some friends, then on monday the winter overhaul begins!

By a curious coincidence, I will also be losing my license for 3 months sometime after monday, so I've got a bit of time up my sleeves.

The List

Wheels, swingarm & top triple tree sandblasted & powder coated matte black
R1 goldspot calipers to go on
Repaint header pipes
Paint fork legs (maybe)
Install heated grips
New tyres (for a trackday)
Touch up some paint on the engine...
FCR41's pending funds...

That's all I can think of at the moment, I'm sure I'll find some more to do as I go.

So, tomorrow being the first day of winter, here's an update!

Some more things to do: I will upholster the bum pad & lube the cable for the pillion seat, my key is getting a distinct bend! Also, some iridium spark plugs...

I still have my license until the 27th June, so it'll be slow up till then, but I do want to get the powdercoating done while I can still drive as a friend who works night shift is doing it on the sly. Nuff said That'll mean a week or so of not riding, but so be it.

New rubber is on, Conti Sport Attacks. Did about 500k's over the weekend, mostly on the GOR, very happy! Was running 38-42 psi, but I've dropped that down to 34-38... Feels more neutral & the bike comes out of corner better without me having to muscle it up at the lower pressures. Very different to the PR2's I was running, I'll probably try the PR3's after this.

Another small project to keep me busy on the weekends, it's a chinese pitbike with a Lifan 125 engine, lots of fun! I'm gradually stockpiling supermoto bits as they come up cheap, should be a fun project.

Thought you'd paint the wheels while the tyres were off? Much easier & you'd get a better result.

Dont forget a coat of paint on the radiator..heres mine taken after a thorough cleaning, and a coat of barbecue paint...

Yeah, I will, my old tyres were past stuffed so I needed new ones in the meantime & couldn't tee up the powdercoating before.

I have bought a tyre lever & rim protectors, so I'll have a crack at removing them myself. Wish me luck!

Most things will be getting a coat of flat black, maybe even metallic flat black if it exists... Probably not...

Slowly, slowly... Turns out I still have my license until 30th june. But I have my Tax back

Wasn't enough for FCR's & the essential, but there is enough for the essentials (Engine overhaul & brake overhaul) & superfluous blingy stuff!

Old & new, I like the new much better! It's to suit an R6, but bolts straight up with only a small modification to the rubber seal. (Sorry about the pic)

Rizoma bar ends & sportline grips, I liked the look of these, but always thought it was a bit stupid, over the top, but I thought I'd give it a try.

I'm glad I did, the grips are really comfortable & with the matching bar ends, actually extend the bars about 20mm, giving more leverage & a very natural reach to the short levers I have on. Two fingers on the levers is enough, especially with the goild spot calipers.
