Originally designed as a compressor by Mr Wankel . . .what a name ..
The 10A was Mazda's original motor. twin distributers, side intake & peripheral exhaust, around 1hp per moving part.100 moving parts...
Next was the 12A twin dizzy, side intake & peripheral exhaust. The rotor housings grew by 10mm in thickness and up to around 120 horses.
12A single dizzy came with same thickness housings but different rotors and exhaust ports. still side in and peripheral out..now 130 horses.
The 13B gained another 10mm in housing thickness and a whole heap of torque courtesy of the capacity boost.
Right through to the RX8 13 with side intake side exhaust.
20B triple rotor turbo...still more horses
. . . Le Mans winning quad rotor servo controlled variable length intakes lots and lots of horses !!

Other variants include single rotor speedway cars and airforce drones.
yes i'm still a keen owner, but bikes were my first love and i guess they still are.
nothing beats leaning into a bend and winding it on eh !!
cheers
