Question.
Do I get someone like Maxton to rework my existing standard forks or am I going to get better performance from an alternative set eg YZF750 front end ??

Re: Forks
The cheapest and GOOD option is to buy the correct rate fork springs to suit your weight, some valves / emulators to increase the damping efficiencies and a rebuild with new and likely heavier weight oil.
Try contacting KTech for advice and the costs involved in supplying the parts you need, many members have gone down this route

I`ve decided I want the bling of an USD set-up so am using a set of R1 forks rebuilt to suit my needs.

Re: Forks
Not necessarily, reworked stock forks will perform just as good but without the bling obviously. You pay your money you make your choices.
My forks owe me a fair few bob, but they are sexy, even got titanium nitrided sliders.

Re: Forks
USD forks are invariably stiffer but I very much doubt any mortal would notice the difference on the road. They also offer benefits in unsprung weight - again refer to my previous comment.
I have had standard forks - and they were OK
New fork oil and springs - even better
Standard forks rebuilt by maxton - even better
Replaced with YZF forks - about the same, maybe worse
Rebuilt YZF forks - better than rebuilt standard
