Wiring question

Finally got around to mounting the instruments on my TRX adventure bike today. Found and connected the 9 pin plugs, but cant seem to find the other half of this connector. It has 3 wires, a blue, a yellow and a dark green all with red stripes across them.

Anyone know what these three wires do? The previous owner butchered the wiring harness so the other half of the connector may have been chopped off.

My way would be to get all the legally required electrics working Homer then if that connector block is still `free`, simply tape it up and forget about it. Tuck it away from anything else, perhaps cable tie it back to the rest of the loom and keep it clear of anything that may trap or crush it.

Yeah, pretty much done that already. Things that aren't working are high beam indicator light, right indicator idiot light, and not sure about the temp gauge or fan for that matter. Suppose I'll find out when I fire it up.

Easy to sort Homer, the idiot light issues will likely be blown bulbs, but if not check to see if there are live feeds from the right hand indicator circuit and the high beam supply. If the wires are dead just run a seperate feed from each of those to the centre pin of the idiot lamp holders.
If their earths are sound that`ll sort it for you.
Here`s a wee tip, go to the downloads section and look at the wiring diagrams in the service guide you`ll find there.

I pulled the instruments out and traced the three wires to their source. They are High beam, neutral and right blinker idiot lights. The three light on my panel that aren't working. Looks like I'll have another go at finding the other plug or else I've got some wiring to do.

I had a similar wiring issue a while ago where two or three seemingly random components werent working after my rebuild. I traced it to a black earth wire connector which came out the loom near the headstock and should have been connected to a bolt that mounts the radiator to get an earth. Cant remember any more details, but i did post up the issue and solution on the forum.
Maybe worth checking if you have a spare little black wire with an O or C type connector which is just floating around.

Can't recall what it is off the top of my head, but I can check on my bike tonight if that'll help you out.

I'm guessing you may have sorted this problem by now, but I had a look on my spare loom and the flat 3 pin blue connector from the instrument cluster connects to a white one with the same colour wires on the main loom, near the front of the tank.

All the Yam connectors are foolproof as they are all different shapes so you cant connect them wrongly...

Thanks Trixtnut, Ive searched and searched, but I don't seem to have that white connector that you have on your loom. Looks like I'll just have to run some wires from the high beam circuit, the right indicator and neutral switch to the blue connector to get the lights working.

All sorted. Neutral, indicator and hi beam lights all up and running.
Added oil and coolant today, need to get some fuel tomorrow and fire it up.
