My new TRX is trying to tell me something
but I'm not sure what...when the bike is warm the tacho cycles to 3 k, 1k and zero. It doesn't show up when the bike is first started or (for example) taken on a short test ride
The bike runs beautifully, pulls strongly, runs clean...just the tacho goes el loco

Re: My new TRX is trying to tell me something
Thanks Fung...I'll do that. A search for "tacho error" led me to those tps threads. I'm too tired to make sense of it now...big day back and forth in the heat to first see then pick up the bike (public transport sucks). Beer o'clock now, super happy to be back on a trx

And you DONT want the TPS modification posts, you want one on how to adjust the TPS.
If you cant find anything, post here again and someone will talk you through it.
You'll need a star drive bit to loosen the bolts that hold the TPS in place.

Hmm, that was a ball ache...I've gone very slowly through the range of adjustment on the tps and get nothing but the 1k readout (though it does swing to 8K with the connector off). Maybe I need to remove the torx screws and see what happens i.e. extend the range of movement...in case the tps is mounted incorrectly on that square shaft doodad?

Could it have been pressure washed and you`re getting some kind of water ingress issues?

Re: My new TRX is trying to tell me something
Hmmm...even though I didn't see the magic 4K diagnostic the tacho error signalling has disappeared...maybe something was loose. TPS is around the middle position and am happy to say the bike runs sweet, tacho works normally...result
as an aside, I've beendoing some running around today (buying torx drivers, buying and installing new white bulbs and front pads) and have had more people chat about + admire the TRX in one day than I've had in 4 years of Versys ownership. Looks like my wife has got herself a new bike

Well the Versys although a good all rounder, is hardly as good a looking bike as the TRX. I hope you and the new `woman` in your life will remain very happy for years to come.
The `keep her clean and treat her mean` atitude often adopted is best kept for the wife though.

Uh-oh...glitch is back...will have another crack at adjusting it tomorrow but it looks like the tps is fried.
Local wreckers wanted $150 for a used one, waiting on a reply to see if a tdm one will suit ex ebay UK for $60 new.

Re: My new TRX is trying to tell me something
Have you checked the three connections in the TPS thoroughly? They can get a bit loose and sometimes get water in.
Also, check youlve done up the stardrive adjustment screws tight as they can vibrate loose. I replaced mine with allen heads and loctited them once it was set up right.

Re: My new TRX is trying to tell me something
do you have access to a multimeter?
i'm sure someone on the forum knows what to look for; i.e. resistance, voltage etc.
cheers
