New cranks are still avalable. How i know? My engine was in bits, and i had the crank (plus tools) in the car, and some nutter broke in to the car and stole tools and the crank, so i got it replaced by the insurance...) IIRC, ca 1000 Euros, plus the costs for 5 sets of new bearing shells.
