carb prob?

Merry Christmas to all - Maybe someone can help me with a slight carb issue?

When riding at low speeds I seem to get what I would describe as a 'cough' or 'hiccup' from the carb that I have to power through. Any ideas - it does seem to be carb related. I also feel that it isn't pulling as quick as it could be at high revs......but that might be psychological?????

What revs? TRX's dont like to be below 3000 if you can help it! use a lower gear. The top end in 5th up a hill maybe wont pull so quick, try it down hill.

well, it is around 2000 rpm that i get it, just feels like the carb is sucking in air or something for a split second. As I use the bike for commuting in London, its rare I get to wack it above 3/4000 - especially in the winter in the morning!

Could be some buckled* vacuum hose.

* LEO gave this translation - I don't remember the exact word for a hose that is deformed such that the [inner] diameter is reduced ...

Or maybe some dirt in the carbs - maybe just emptying the float chambers (and thus flushing the dirt out) could help; saw this years ago on a bike that wouldn't run smoothly and my buddy (drove pillion that times) gave this advice to the stranded guy on the roadside - and it helped.

thanks, I realised driving it yesterday that it actually happens between 3-4k, but I guess a good clean up would prob help.

Hi, has anyone serviced their carbs with the factory pro kit inc. emulsion tubes? I'm thinking of doing this to get the carbs running right again and would welcome feedback.................also does anyone know a good mechanic around London area that could service the carbs with the factory pro kit?

Gerben, buckled could also be kinked, bent, pinched. I'd use pinched in this instance. Others may use kinked.

Well despite some people liking their men kinky (phuk72), it turned out not to be a kinked hose, but emulsion pipes and valve clearances set properly have made a world of difference.....could be a solution for other people who have an underperforming bike.
