An easier `perhaps` if you had a lathe, way of doing this, would be to turn the threaded brass rod down to fit a hole drilled in the original screws head.
Then a simple small diameter cross drilling right through the assembly and a small roll pin inserted.
I might do this to my FCR`s screws rather than pay near thirty quid each for some flexi drive types.

yes, cross frilling a popping a pin in would be a good idea, might do that

Cross frilling will work too but don`t get into cross dressing.
