Well if I deduce from your reply that you are a copper then GOOD ON YOU for appearing to be a decent one meensy, I REALLY mean that too. =D> Oh and don`t worry about upsetting me in any way either, forums don`t exist for all to be in agreeance after all.
I associate with ALL kinds of bikers, many that the police would love to know all about I can assure you, I don`t get involved with their `business`, don`t agree with much of it either but would not be stupid enough to try to stop them getting up to it!
The race club associations are my if you like, `normal` biking associations, the back patch links something different altogether.
You must know of the annual Hislop memorial run from usually knockhill to Steve`s home town in the borders? For those unfamilier:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Hislop

The way that was policed in 2010 was outrageous, the lack of respect for folk wanting to get together to remember the great and lovely man sickened me to be honest.
Ask around, you`ll no doubt hear about it all.
Here`s an earlier years report of `policing` from Bonnyrig MCC:

http://www.bonnyriggmcc.co.uk/hizzy_run.html

Anyway back to 2010`s police antics.
Many old and experienced bikers were saddened by both the attitudes and the behaviour of accompanying police out riders and the moron in amongst the riders in plain clothes and on an unmarked bike goading folk into breaking speed limits by accelerating out of the pack too.
Can I ask you, what do you think of the new CBT and the European type approval mullarkey?
Oh and again, coppering`s not an easy job, but I`m a big capable boy, I don`t need anyone nannying me, be it government or police. As for our rights? Well everyones rights are being eroded daily by the pressures being applied to governments in the so called free world, all for the future ability to SELL more to us.

Oh well into the lions den soon - will report back on what it was like

However on general poloice attitude etc must say I am not the greatest fan

Our recent treatment by policeman when son had failled to turn up after a night out was disgraceful, bullying and patronising - which doesn't help the police cause.

I live in a fairly dicey area and the police have the really annoying habbit of sucking up to the loutish youth and street crims, ignoring their flagrant transgressions, yet jumping alll over the easy targets, again doesn't help with the respect agenda.

I really think the police in this country have a problem knowing what they are really for, what exactly they should be doing and who for.

Good luck on the bike safe SDN, hope you learn something! , that sounds a bit rude! what I mean is I hope its a worthwhile day for you! :D

@Meensy, I have known for some time now you were a copper, something you wrote in a prev post. I have no problem with decent individuals in any form of job choice, were it becomes very dangerous is where an arsehole (for want of a better word) has the power and control over part of another individuals destiny and can and sometimes does make very a wrong decsition.

@Mince I also think that for most people their involvement with the police has had a negative impact on their lives due to something they have done,(perhaps as a risk they have taken or through stupidity) or is because of a negative happening of some sort in their lives (i.e a theft) which brought in the police and if the police cant sort it out completely then they sort get a bit of the blame Lets not forget its not the coppers who make up the laws, I will leave it there for fear of getting political and far too off topic, I have already typed and deleted this post three times.

So if its mostly a negative impact on "The People" then "The People" will have a negative veiwpoint, and that will be directed towards all who are in the force

Ah well therein lies the problem, if you`re a pal of a pal or a mason, employees of Murdoch and his cronies, a politician, Tony Bleeurgh or many of the other tossers we all know should be banged to rights you`re ok.
Wealth, power and position buys you protection.
Those rat kids on the street, I know the score, keep pally with them it`s too much paperwork to run them in and they might just want to fight you, so you`ll need to rely on the old gadgets in the utility belt to come to your aid.
But having a puff of a substance that is as natural as the grass on your lawn get`s you a criminal record!
I`m not saying we could do without policing but lets have it fairer, let`s have the upper ranks fighting for sensible policing too instead of building themselves ivory towers and good retirement packages.
If I had ever met Bellend Bill Holland of Warwickshire police (now retired) I would have happily punched the cnut on the nose and took the penalty, a biker HATER in a position of power, made my life and other brothers and sisters life hell for years just because we wanted to join the UK`s biggest biker party.
So, it was and still is organised and run by HAMC? Believe me the government and their taxation, return the working class populace to medieval surfs is a bigger threat to us than a few Angels who just want to party.
I can see, so can others, that biking is part of a bigger agenda to control the populace, if we allow them politicians and bureaucrats, through policing powers will push motorcycles and those that ride them off the roads for ever!
It`s not worked elsewhere and I call on bikers everywhere to make sure it doesn`t happen here and across Europe, your biking future is at risk if you go sleepwalking through life and don`t stand up and be counted.
Look at what went on here:

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/high-cout ... 5951724505

More illegality from those entrusted and apparently democratically elected to serve their voting public`s best interests.

Bike safe was great, coppers were really friendly and quite a good laugh. We did some classroon stuff on observation, safe filtering etc. We then went out and did low speed manauvering through cones, no fron brake allowed, get the bite point on the clutch and use back brake, that was good. Followed by an observed ride, I was going a bit too quickly - thought I was on the speed limit, then remembered the YZF rear wheel - oops!

They were pretty relaxed regarding the end can and noisy bikes in general - they did state that they would intervene if they receined a number of complaints and in their opinion the bike was excessively noisy - so just don't rag it round your neigbourhood late / early

Worse bit about bike safe was the weather - stair rod rain, gale force wind and sleet - only relief was that it didn't snow

Was worth doing

What has the YZF wheel got to do with a speedometer reading, or are you implying that you were not looking at your speedometer and that the YZF wheel / tyre combo increases the overall gearing a tad?
I`m glad you had a good day SDN.

Well I`m continually doing my bit to `educate` folk, both bikers and non bikers, you can`t rely on the bought and compromised media to give a clear picture of what beauracrats are trying to do.
In the UK you can do no better than to keep reading up on literature provided by MAG and / or FEMA :

http://www.mag-uk.org/en/index/a6296

http://www.mag-uk.org/en/fema/a6360?SID ... cef0543818

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-15053649

Have you heard of this one  ?

http://www.mag-uk.org/en/campaignsdetail/a6322

No doubt soon MAG will be `labelled` as having links to Al Qaeda, such is the way politicians and security agencies love to misinform the sheeple to suit their own agendas and discredit organisations whose views don`t suit their own.
Me? I see through all that tosh, was brought up to see through the pish politicians spout!
Ok, UK bikers, you don`t have to join MAG but you can enjoy helping them at MANY gatherings in 2012, believe me some of these rallies are great!

Cutting through all the banter, I've done a Bike Safe day and it's a good way of checking out your perceived skills.
I've also done the ERS scheme with Peak Riders and that was a real eye opener, it's made a big difference to my understanding and road craft.
Anything that improves your skill will add to the enjoyment and expand your limits........go for it!

Am considering joining BAM's - Birmingham Advaced Motorcylist's doing the advanced test and all that - never been much of a joiner - but might be worth doing. Just have to ensure it doesn't bugger up my karate training as will be going for 1st Dan September

Another activity to piss the wife off - just the thing

Problem with tying the belt round the cans apart form it getting caught in the wheel would be anyone thinking I was claiming to be a black belt bike rider! far from it

Learning physical skills goes

Unconscious incompetence - you don't know you're crap

Conscious incompetece - you now realise you are crap and can learn

Conscious Competence you are getting better - but you have to work at it

Unconscious competence - it comes naturally

I guess with the bike riding I am moving from conscious incompetence to conscious competence

With the Karate it is more like conscious - to unconscious competence - which takes a hell of a lot of instruction, training and practice - which I haven't had for the bike.

My experience is everyone thinks they are a biking hero / really good rider - is this unconscious incompetence?

I will probably get some crappy responses to this, but - so what it's a debate

Maybe IOM advanced test is the way to go?

What's your thoughts?

I have been doing capoeira for a while now and am defo at the Conscious incompetence level, but the trouble is, at nearly 40 (July 9 :D gifts of beer fags and wimin gratfully accepted 8) ) I doubt if I will ever get to anywhere above this level, maybe momentarily up to Conscious competence, but I am stupid and will carry on.....
Bike riding wise....well.... is there a level called "able to balance on two wheels whilst moving"?
