I was told you CAN cancel your claim at any time but it`s BS, once that assessor has looked at it he / she is government bound to categorise it, it`s the UK governments plan to remove any crashed but repairable vehicles from the roads, and it`s a direct `tie-in` to the big players in the automotive industry lobbying government to do anything that helps them sell new vehicles.
Of course it suits the government too, think import tax and VAT revenue plus there are the insurance companies who also lobby government to get repaired vehicles off the road too.
Most insurers do require the vehicle to be VOSA inspected before they`ll give you insurance, by the way that`s another ferkin joke!
I took my volvo for it`s inspection and the muppet in flouro never even looked at the area that had been damaged! THREE ferkin minutes it took him to check the cars VIN numbers and that was ALL he did. 41 quid, 45 mile round trip, special insurance for the day, another 28 quid and one very pissed off mincehead!
Good to hear you`ve both healed up ok`ish.
