Post by spanner » Sat Sep 15, 2012 5:33 pm

If u ordered new bearings using the code from the old ones which were loose, sounds like it had the wrong ones in.
Cant be spindle else wouldnt fit thro spacers, fork bottom, speedo drive etc.
What do you call excess play anyway?
Search on here for bearing numbers otherwise I have an old set I can check the numbers on tomorrow.

hi trixynut
the code on the bearing is 6203-2rsh/c3 13b 03115 j 54f italy, i orderd them from ebay for a trx but they are
exactly the same as the ones that were in and both have alot of play on the spindle about 2-3 mm side play.

There shouldnt be any play on the bearings at all.
Theres a thread on here with all bearing numbers if you search.
Copying and pasting the bit on front wheels, its:

Front Wheel……..93306-20314………..…Deep-groove Ball……….17 40 12………6203 (2RS)……………..........2

Will check my old set when I can.

The c rating of bearings refers to the internal (ball to race) clearance for different applications eg. crankshaft bearings require slightly bigger clearance to allow for crankshaft flex and is measured in microns not 2-3mm. Nothing to do with your problem.

thanks lenny
found a page on c ratings hmm interesting stuff , the bearings have 2-3 mm play
when there on the spindle or the spindle has 2-3 mm (4-6 total) play when its in the wheel just seems odd.
ive done a search with the correct size and as far as i can see i have the correct size but c3 rated :?:.

What size spindle is in your bike? Can you put a picture of the forks up here?

you doubted my table?

seriously though, I tripple checked that table before I posted it up and brought that specific excel sheet to the bearing shop to order all of the bearings for my bike......every bearing number and size listed in that table has been fitted to my TRX

ive measured the spindle with a vernier gauge and it measures 16.5 mm with the bearings being 17 mm i am sure the spindle should be a bit
larger, i have the correct bearings so ive orderd another spindle . hope fully that will cure my head shake.
