SWAP ENGINE, ETC FROM 1998 TO 1996 TRX

Post by torino68 » Sat Nov 24, 2012 4:14 am

I have recently bought a 96 TRX and found that the engine and some electrical components are totally inoperable. I have the opportunity to buy a written off 98 model and just wondering if anyone can tell me if ALL parts of a 98 can be used on a 96 or if there are differences. Any advice is appreciated.

From what little I know of the different years of the TRX, there shouldn't be a problem in swapping the '98 engine with the knackered '96 engine and other bits.

Welcome aboard & all the best for the build!

Straight swap, providing older bike is not an import, which I doubt as most were early '95s.

Hi, thanks guys for your replies, neither bike is a 2nd hand Japanese import so hopefully there will not be an issue. :D
