just a thought jim, but do you have std size gearing ?
have you ridden another std trx with the same gearing ?
Std is quite tall 17/39 and throttle off idle needs squeezing to come on smooth.
Cheers
Fung

Hey Gang,
So, the flat spot is still there but its almost imperceptible now. I took the mixture screws to 3 turns in total and it seems to run a lot smoother overall throughout the rev range compared with how it was a few days ago before I changed the settings on the needles as well.
Con Rod, Float levels are set at 14mm (it was one of the first things I changed when commencing this saga.)
Fung, the gearing is std, which I will be changing as soon as I have the money for a new chain and sprockets. is 16/42 the general consensus? I have a feeling the slight lag that is still evident could be chain slack. Its been a while since I checked tension but i'm about to get in the shower now so cant be bothered heading out to confirm.
Thanks to everyone who has helped me through this.
She is far more enjoyable to ride now and has, for now, stayed my wandering eye (caught myself looking at speed triples again). I love her and am tossing up between pimping the trx out with goodies (well, r6 shock and gold valves/prog springs) or just getting a s3, I must admit, the trx is definitely the best handling bike i have ever ridden and is just so confidence inspiring, i just find it tough riding 2 up(about 30% of my riding... hey, what else is a single guy with a bike to do other than use it to get chicks?) cos I feel like I am killing the poor thing, whereas on the s3 it didnt even notice the extra person. Looks like a few test rides will be in order.

Your weight Jim stick with a linear .8 front spring and for around $200/$250 to do a R6 rear conv. You'll notice the difference. And if your goin for 16/42 that will aid you two up also. 16/40 9000rpm top gear is around 230kph unless your bike can breathe you'll be around 200 k mark in top. Check out the gear commander to give you an idea of gearing tyre size and speed

glad you persisted with it and ironed out the bugs.. They really are just a basic motorcycle so not much else to them just fuel/ spark and bit of wiring really

well done for having the patience to work thro and eliminate things and you sussed it out
