Which Keihin 41FCR kit?

Looking at 2 kits from BR Special Tuning in the UK.

Basic kit 016-671 only comes with blue plastic stacks and manifold spigot only.

Full kit 016-735 comes with blue Velocity stacks, Air filter adaptors to fit OE air box, TPS fittings and extended cable set.

As I have the original carbs with TPS fittings, and I don't need the extended cables as motor mounted in an offroad buggy - I do however want to use the original air box.

I don't think I can purchase the OE air box adaptor separately....

To be on the safe side, should I get the full kit or is it easy enough to adapt to the OE air box?

Check U.S sites as they will come in around $950 for a full kit that comes with air box adaptors blue bell mouths and TPS mounts.. When I go back online to my computer I'll see if I still have the link for you... You'll find the air box a little restrictive

Cheers cobba. Would like to ditch the airbox and just run pod filters but worried about dirt and sand as being used off-road. Will pod filters work just as effectively? I'd probably need to get machined bell mouths with the wire mesh also..?

I located CA Cycleworks in the US selling cheaper than BR Special Tuning in the UK but their product description very limited.

Can't wait for the oversize valves to be arrive....

Do you think I could give the full kit a miss and use my TPS of original carbs? Sorry but my knowledge of this stuff not real good.

Oh my engine guru John Coonan works at Bayside Yamaha and he has done TRX850 racing development in the past. He has reviewed the Kent cam specs and depending on the increased airflow from headwork that Geoff Chesterton is going to do, he is recommending different cam specs, I think more lift & duration. I'll send u the specs when finally sorted as I want Tighe Cams to make ASAP. Not cheap though at $950..... Built up ones cheaper but not recomended for street use as they will wear.

If you look up John & Geoff on Google you will see a formula hill climb car with a GSXF750 putting out 200HP - albeit on methanol and custom billet parts, but they know their stuff. Guy at work used them for his Ducati land speed engine and they extracted an additional 60% more HP.

Mark ( sandunes)filled us in on the Kent cams when he picked his up as they are reground std cams anyhow and he spoke to their engineer who made him aware they can only achieve .43mm extra lift because of the small standard base circle they have to work off.. V2 cams may be another option for you to look at which give you more horsepower.. I have an idea they have been revived after closing down for a while. Got an idea they may me based over west or south Australia . The TPS mod on the flat slides just allows you to fit the one off your std carbs. The tps doesn't come fitted to the carbs have a look at the Ramair sock filters online also as you'll find a lot of dirt bikes utilise these too. I'll send that link too mate and if your worried about mud and dirt I'm sure you might be able to put some shield Inplace without restricting too much airflow

Thanks again. Tighe Cams at Wacol are using new blanks, so perhaps they will be able to acheive the required spec's, anyway I'll soon find out. I'll let you know how it goes.

Ok you lost me on the TPS. If I get the basic flatside kit, I can just use the TPS from my old carbs? Then again I am looking at IgniTech TCIP4 programmable ignition which in that case I wont need the TPS.... Also looking at Takai coils & leads but not cheap.

John, i run RAM AIR filters that are designed to go over the FCRs velocity stacks...i pull em over the standard trx stacks in the air box..added on e-bay...a good UK product ,...makes me want a PINT of LAGER after too,.....drop by if you wanna see them.

ramair filter link ..you get two twinsock filters for the price and are cleanable.. one filter fits over the two bellmouths so you'll always have a spare

Hey cobba, those carbs on ebay seem a tad expensive for $999

CA Cycleworks has same kit, with bell mouths & cables for $769 US, about $730 in Aussie dollars.

Re the airfilter, I note that mince advised part needed was MS-009 to suit the Keihins. I will order, just need to confirm which ones suit the 41mm blue bell mouths. MS-017 are taller providing more air but the neck diameter seems a bit small?

Got an email back from them on their FCR'S for that price. That's all you get carbs only. I asked if they came with any of the extras i listed but the answer came back as carbies only. You will have to pay extra obviously for your choice of air filter adaptor or bell mouths , cables and TPS mount. But a great price if you don't want TPS

there'd be better experts on here who could answer this but I cant see any reason why not

spacing between carbs might not be the same is all I know

I have used the RAMAIR MS017 with the small apperture ID of 29mm.

Though they look small for the carbs these will fit over the blue bellmouths and are a nice secure fit when in place.

Yes I knew either would fit ok, the slightly taller MS017 doesn`t offer any more `air` I might add.
You`ll find the filter will also `loosen` in cell structure over time as fuel slowly degrades the foam, the addition of ever more ethanol in UK pump fuel will also be party to speeding this up!
