Alternative to sheave holder?

Good Afternoon friends,

I am in the middle of pulling my bike apart, as I believe the starter clutch has shat itself.

Pulling the rotor off the magneto, and looking in the manual, says I need a sheave holder, to do it.

Does anyone have any home alternatives or tricks, to holding the magneto in place while getting the bolt off?

If I understand you correctly you are wanting to remove the generator rotor?

I used a large 2" wide strap wrench making sure that the ignition trigger points on the rotor do not get mashed.

Getting the bolt out is the easy bit; getting the rotor off is the real challenge.

I made a puller from a piece of 25mm thick steel plate. This had an M16 threaded centre hole and 3off M10 (I think) clearance holes for bolts that go through the plate into the rotor.

Make an ally insert so that the M16 bolt does not damage the crank and wind in the bolt until it pops off.

If it has never been off it will make quite a bang.

and if you can tie the rotor losely to the engine cases with string before you do it or have something soft under it, this is just to stop if falling off totally when it comes off and hitting the floor/ getting damaged.
