Looking at some of the bikes on ebay the asking prices are rising. Especially for rubbish!

Last time this one was listed there was the option to make an offer, so I did £300. What a load of crap. but I reckoned it had to be worth 300 quid just for breaking cos that's all its fit for. The seller declined my offer? Not sure why!

This one is more vastly overpriced garbage! The listing says "wants for nothing" well it wants the dice valve caps throwing away for starters, wants a decent paint job (one that's not been done with rattle cans), wants a seat bum pad, and all the streetfighter junk that de-values the bike putting in the skip where it belongs. The original equipment needs refitting for that price.

everyone i seem to talk to lateley are saying about TRX rarity, and prices on the up.. obviously the time of year, and the weather in this country has a big inlfuence on bike prices...

My local dealer said they would put mine up for £2999. and give me £2100 for it if it sold. but privately i should look at selling it for £2500.... who am i to know..??

i suppose if i wanted a fast sale £1800 would be good...

but have my supermoto up for sale now..

mines a keeper again...!!!!

I've seen three TRXs on the road in the past couple of months, I wouldn't say they were rare at all! Still if people want to start paying lots of money for them I won't stop 'em

I am looking forward to this feature in PS. TRX is a fairly rare bike, I had lots of people at this years TT come up and ask me what bike was as they didn't recognise it. On the other hand, lots of people from the continent talked to about it, a couple of guys owned them and got mega excited to see mine. I do not think the prices of the TRX will go up after being in PS mag, last time it was in, it didnt come out on top of the group test.

Every year I go to the TT there is always a couple of people around my TRX whenever I stop, especially our Dutch friends. My brother and mates can never understand why their fairly new sports bikes don't get the same attention. Not sure prices are going to go up though. Saying that I paid hardly anything for mine 6 years ago and its probably worth the same now. It owes me nothing and for how much fun it is I think it's with me for good, or until it blows up!

I never really noticed until the TT, that the TRX does not have "850" on it anywhere. I had a few people ask what cc the bike was, and I kept thinking, just look at the side of the bike, then it dawned on me there is no sticker with the capacity. Realised thats the same on our lasses fazer too, doesn't say 600 on it anywhere.

I think it was 1996- 2000 so four years of production...

so would anyone say that a TRX is rarer than say a RD 350 LC ? or say a FS1E

i know there are loads of models of RD 350's...

and look at the prices of RD 350's and Fs1e's they are gone through the roof... so I think the TRX will become an Aprreciating classic ? Although its not quite there yet...

different attraction though. People want the RD and the Fizzy because they are nostalgic about them having owned, or wanted one as a youth. The TRX never held such an attraction, and rarity does not a classic make as demonstrated by my XN85. They only made 1100 of them and still they dont command big money.

The TRX will be in a que behind the like of the earliest R1's and the YZF750 before folks start really wanting them.

That said, they are have gotten to a price where they wont depreciate further

I agree with that, they wont go up like some rare bikes. LCs, fizzies, gsxr slabsides are going mad, early blades and R1s will follow. From what I have read the trx was a sales flop when they were released. Its got a cult following from those in the know that know they are a good bike. It was an odd move by Yamaha to build a bike to take on the Ducati 900ss. At the end of the day, people who wanted a Ducati, still bought a Ducati. It just puts us owners in a good position where we can own a cracking real world road bike for £1000-£1500.

I agree, bought mine about five years ago for £1500 - I've messed about with it a whole heap and learnt a lot. I've got it how I want it and have really enjoyed the process. However because it hasn't cost a boat load of money - I am not really that precious about it.

I occaisionally have thought of chopping it in for a speed triple 1050 or a Daytona T595 - but I never really get round to it!

Be interesting to see the mag and see the response to the bike

Hopefully the weather will clear up at some point and I can put some decent miles on it!

I've been thinking about a speed triple too though can only afford a 955 one. Got the mag the mag through the post today 3 are from the forum for sure the one with the 916 bits on appears to have a v-rod headlamp no frontal shots though (sorry poor choice of phrase)

most of the people that have seen mine in the flesh. and thats not many...!!! have all said that they remember seeing them in the showroom, but never seen many on the road, and wish that they had bought one...
