Clutch Perch Switch??
I am trying to change over my TRX clutch perch for an r6 one so that I do not have to have a spacer in the TRX one. I will however have to use the r6 switch on the r6 perch. Both the r6 switch and the TRX one have two connections within the switch. I am assuming that when the clutch is depressed that the switch will merely close the circuit to tell the computer that the clutch is depressed and that the bike can start even with the stand down. Can someone confirm, clarify or ridicule me on this please??

Understeer - when you hit the fence with the front of the bike.

I can't answer your question but I have been wondering the same myself. I also have an R6 lever and perch.
I want to junk my LH switch gear (track day bike so no lights) but don't yet know whether leaving the circuit permanently open will cause me grief.
I would not have thought so because with the side stand up the clutch switch must do nothing? I plan to remove both clutch and side stand switches and then see if it starts and runs.
Will let you know.

Disconnected mine and makes no odds.
Only function seems to be to stop starter motor working when the motor's in gear.
Gonna whip mine off completely.

You can leave it disconnected no problem. I've had mine disconnected for years with an aftermarket clutch perch and lever. I think from memory though, that if your bike cuts out in traffic or you stall it for some reason, you have to shift back to Neutral to fire er back up. You can't just pull the clutch in and hit the starter.
It must be true, I read it on the internet.

Yeah, same here I had an R6 clutch perch and CRG R6 lever and just left the switch unconnected for 2 or so years.
Converted back to std as I prefer the leverage you get with the longer levers

Yeah I kinda understand these responses and it along what I thought...the switch basically tells the computer that even if the bike is in gear, if the clutch is pulled in you can still start it.
So my understanding is that I could simply connect the two wires that would normally go to the TRX switch and connect it up to the r6 switch. What I just want to confirm is this:

My assumption would be NO it does not matter which way the leads are connected. I have come to this conclusion as when the clutch is compressed it simply makes a connection (closes/connects the circuit) within the switch which then enables you to start the bike in gear.
- Alternatively, I could permanently connect these two wires, but that would then fool the bike into thinking the clutch is always on, and if I therefore try to start the bike in gear and forget to compress the clutch I could go for a nice little ride

Well I think I was correct in my assumptions....havn't tried it out yet, but pulled the r6 switch apart and discovered that it is also simply an OPEN/CLOSE switch (same as the TRX).
So I have simply attached cut and attached the lead from the TRX left-hand switch gear to be able to attach to the r6 clutch switch. I ensured that the leads from the TRX were attached to the similar leads on the r6 (ie - TRX wire that attached to the bar-end side of the switch was attached to the bar-end side of the r6 switch - and similar for the other wire).
Hopefully this will work...if not it will be a big hunt when I get around to starting this thing to find out what is wrong
