I want my TRX to go faster

Hi

I've got riser clip ons from LSL on my trx with a r1 front end. Very nice.

Started getting the bits together to go the handlebar route maybe but not sure as I do like the LSL's lots.

How much of a rise on the LSL clip ons? W with the billet trees I'm getting made up that will be dropped 25mm and offset the same as the TRX to suit R1 forks. I'll need something to around 40mm to get me comfy in a TRX position.

Change the main frame and the motor, and the heart of the TRX will die...I'd love to add a Nuda 900R pump...an instant 105 ponies......the Rex is what the Rex is....my thoughts.

To my mind, once you start changing the engine on a bike it is no longer the donor bike.

It's also quite involved.

And for me a no no as (without even measuring anything) I reckon you'ld have to fab engine mounts and with an open trellis frame it will invariably look crap.

I reckon the cheapest route to big power on a TRX is to swap the motor out for an FI TDM900 lump and bang on NOS But then NOS is for men with small dicks who wanna go fast in a straight line

Yup. The best thing about the Trx is the way it just falls into corners, and holds a line, so light and nimble. Scratchtastic.

From the top of the fork clamp to the centre of the bar at the clamp end is about 50 to 60mm. The fork clamp sits about 10mm below the top yolk on mine and brings the bars above the yoke.

I can't cmpare the position to std trx as mine had the r1 front when i bought it. I fitted the lsl's as the std r1 clip ons fouled the fairing. Then i liked the bike without the fairing so much it never went back on.

Thats one of my problems, I do like to go fast in straight line, so far this year I have ran my TRX in 2 drag race events and a sprint. Although now my bandit is fixed the TRX will only be used for racing on the very rare occasion its needed as a back up bike if I have a fault with the bandit.

Just how did you even see, let alone identify, other bikes behind you? All I can see on my '95 JDM is the shoulders of my leather jacket.
Has anyone here tried putting spacers/longer bolts on the mirror mounts? Works a treat on faired Laverdas with exactly the same design flaw. A chunk of black Perspex ~5cm or so long, you can shape it with a belt sander and even polish it to a mirror finish. Next project for me.

After having a real think since being back from the TT, I have decided for mainland roads the bike has enough power. Flying along the mountain on none speed limted roads I wanted more. Back in England with 60 mph speed limits on twisty roads the bike has more than enough for that. So 50 weeks of the year the bike is powerfull enough for me, its only 2 weeks a year at the TT where the bike feels underpowered.

The bike is up for sale at the moment, my wage has been cut by 60% so I need the money to buy food, but I am not that bothered if it sells or not.

Steve that could be the answer to your problem, if you cant afford to eat then you will lose weight. therefore the bike will be faster! Win win!
(Sorry to hear of you loss of earnings though.)
