K&N FILTERS POTENTIAL PROBLEM OR NOT?

Post by DOUBLEDECKERDOG » Sun Jul 28, 2013 12:33 pm

Hi Guys, Looking to put a pair of K&N filters on instead of air box as photo as want to fit or try to fit a different tank and this method gives me the best chance, but looking at some related information on K&N filters. Will I have an issue with carburration ? Bike has already had dynojet fitted by previous owner with after market exhaust. Did have standard air box with K&N filter in. Anyone who had issues with this setup good or bad and any other related advice very much appreciated.Image

Dynojet stage 3 kit is made for those K&N pods, IIRC it involves drilling in the carbs.
Also think there´s a dutch company who sells kits similar to this...check with one of the dutch guy´s on here...

Tovami Stage 3 kit. It involves modifying the slides and air jets along with all the normal jet kit routine.
Different K&N pods are recommended though. I can dig up the part number if you need it.
I purchased one of the Tovami kits which can be used in various setups after seeing Gerben(Trixz) use one.
If you go pod style filters be prepared for lots of tuning and Dyno time to get it right.
It must be true, I read it on the internet.

Yes, in many cases putting pods on the CV's without further set-up will make it run rich & sick. I tried some on mine - just to see. Seemed to me that standard CV carbs need the airbox to make sufficient vacuum to open the slides (although the overlap on my reground cams would be reducing vacuum too).
