Leaking thermostat housing

I have noticed a bit of the green stuff on the engine and a closer inspection revealed what looks like a leak from the thermostat housing. Looking in the parts manual I see there is an O ring (part 93210-49046). Has anyone had a problem with the thermostat housing before? If so is it just a case of replacing the O ring?

Yep I had the same problem. Took months to discover the actual cause, I was convinced it was where the water enters at the top of the head.

The O-ring is probably ok, the issue it deposits and corrosion build up.

I just dismantled it and cleaned it all up. A bit of sanding was required, then resembled it with some automotive silicone. That was 6 months ago and I have not had an issue since

Dismantle,clean and reassembled with a new o-ring and grey maxbond.

Didnt you have some info on the thermostats, Fung and able to be sourced cheap at supercheap...????

That's cool mate.. Figured if anyone is pulling it apart I can recall on the thread you had the thermostat opening temp as a reference when replacing.(maybe 82*c) May be worth the extra couple of dollars while apart to replace this too. I thing Mark was having issues with a thermostat and you commented on this.. ...
