what he said ^^^^^^^

apparently using pod filters with CV carbs makes a noticeable difference but it ain't cheap as you need to make velocity stacks etc.

I wouldn't (and didn't) do it

And don't forget that CV carbs don't open the throttle based on how much You twist the wrist, the opening is based on the vaccuum created when opening up. The vaccuum is going to be different without the airbox (or with a modded airbox). This means You might need other springs for the vaccumm throttle as well... If it's possible to feel this other than proving it on a Dyno is a different thing.

CV=Can Velocity, or 'how fast can you throw them in the rubbish bin'.

Never liked the damned things. Sorta like TC for the masses and never stay in synch. Pre pumper direct throttle slide carbs were a bit testy to learn (Old CR carbs) but I still prefer them to CVs. I like having my wrist hardwired to the powercurve.

Don't get me wrong though... If you're only looking for cruising around town and the occasional trip up the twisties there's no reason for you to be looking for a way to steal some FCRs. Just keep you stock carbs in synch, keep an eye on those emulsion tube thingies and don't mess around too much with the 'tuned' (at the factory) induction system. They put all those baffles and junk in there for a reason. Trying to force more air into what they were designed for will probably make you forget how well it ran before you started. But if you want 'performance', and the generally obnoxious noise factor that goes along with it, source yourself a set of FCRs. Smile per mile is the phrase that comes to mind.

Oh well, scrap that idea. Back to the FCR idea then.

Now about the missing housekeeping money.........

Out of curiosity, how much should one pay for a K&N filter? (Aussie $)
