I reckon Yamaha aknowledge it. My mate has a WR250 or 450, can't remember size, apparently they run a titanium valve, he thinks because of this so called 'stretching'. Might be for some other reason entirely as well.

Alex, this was my TRX. Hasn't been on the road for nearly 18 months.

This is now my TRX......

Nah the titanium valves used in the now VERY common high revving `generic` four valve singles by all the main Japanese manufacturers are to help keep the mass of components down, it`s all about efficiencies when you`re dragging those last few ponies out of them.

I would expect that titanium valves becoming more common is a combination of things... They're stronger for one, so less strain (= stretch, if there was any in the first place), but they're lighter and less weight means less force which means they can make them with smaller shafts. Less force means they're less likely to bounce at high revs too. And lastly, titanium is more accessible then it used to be too...

Thanks for the Tips guys, gonna track down that shim kit just incase we need it. Anyone got a link handy? I haven't looking too hard just yet to be honest, quicky googled it, and found nothing... More searching to follow.

Since your session is expired your link doesn't show a picture - but the article number 40068 containing in your link is the right one for the shim set for the TRX (if it's that, what you're after):

Yep, that's what I bought. I now have many many spares of shims but that's cool as it's way cheaper and easier than buying individual ones.
