Re: FCR's fitted some questions
Filter is a ram air sock so yes that is OK, also I did valve clearances about 7.5K ago so should be OK, though at 40Kmiles it will be due a new cam chain so will obviously do valves, when I change the cam chain this summer.Con Rod wrote:hmmm valve clearances maybe.
doesn't explain the better result with the baffle though. Presume your air filter is clear.
anyway let us know what it is when you figure it out
Though to be honest, it doesn't run rough, ticks over fine start fine runs well hot and cold so wouldn't think valves were out

Re: FCR's fitted some questions
Difference between running tank on / off is purely down to the absence of vacuum pump without tank fitted - shouldn't affect figures tho, it will just sound a bit ropey? I'm only round the corner from you if you need a second opinion on set up mate? I've tuned mine for midrange but still makes a healthy 94.3 peak on a low reading dyno

Re: FCR's fitted some questions
Found the cause f the rough running - I had earlier, it was the overflow / vent on the top of the carbs, when I attached the vent pipe, I didn't notice that it had a plug in the end, ths was causing a vacuum lock up.
Carbs now ballanced and will go for a run later

......... so I was pretty much nearly right then??.... or, more likely, when you put the tank on you're trapping/pinching the fuel line?

Re: FCR's fitted some questions
More developments - after ballancing the carbs up and refitted the tank and all the pipe work, bike seemed fine could not get TPS adjustment right.
Chris popped in Saturday ( thanks Chris ) I started the bike up and seemed to be running a bit rough??? He gave me some base settings to try. Any way didn't really worry about it as was well behind on domestic DIY chores and had cut down a ferking great thorny bush and was dealing with the stump.
Went out for a quick spin Sunday and the bike was running like a pig, with fuel pissing out of the overflow??? wondered whether it was floats, or crap in the fuel?? Too late to worry about it so just put the bike back in the garage.
Was thinking about it in the week and using the old engineering thinking of "it was OK - now it's not - what has changed" realised the commom denominator was the overflow pipe. Disconnected the overflow pipe and the bike ran great! There is a plastic cannister fitted half way down the rubber pipe, disconnected this and it seems to be a one way valve? anyway reconnected the two halves of the hose with some pipe and the bike is running fine.
TPS adjustment not seeming to do what it should. I disconnected and reconnected the TPS with ignition switched on and the tacho continued to swing and what ever I did to the adjustment, didn't seem to make much difference. The tacho is now swinging eratically when it first starts up then will start working when it is being ridden - will have to check the resistances of the TPS as per haynes manual
Anyway the moral of this story is changing stuff is never that easy - it allways takes way more time than you ever think it should.
Got Kaylas headers the other day so might have a mess with them Saturday

Is it just me? I don't see no curve.SDN wrote:Red curve was with Db Killers fitted
Can you post it again? I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd be interested to see it.
