Can't find neutral with the engine running

Post by PhatVR6 » Mon Aug 06, 2007 7:43 pm

I just cannot find it unless i knock the engine off, then it's straight in.

Is this because it's idling at 1500rpm? I have to have it idling high as the carbs need a good setup and new emulsion tubes and it stalls otherwise.

Is it always like that?

Try going into to neutral from 1st rather than 2nd?

managed to wind the idel down to 1000. it's easier now

doesn't seem to want to go in smoothly at all when going up from 2nd.

I've had it pop out of gear a few times too, and there's a few fasle neutrals in there but not very often. Is that normal?

Sounds as if the selector is bent

My first thought but that wouldn't cause the bike to jump out of gear

I'd agree. Clutch might make selection difficult but shouldn't cause it to jump out of gear.

As you say Phuk........could be bent (or worn) selector, or maybe a worn selector drum.
