Help me find parts please, newbie!

Post by Johnny b » Fri Jan 02, 2009 3:26 am

Hi all trx people!
I am from Ireland and I will soon be picking up a trx.
I want to treat the bike to alot of aftermarket parts and I hope you can help me find them.

This is the general plan and I will start with the cheap stuff but I hope in 12 months time to have everything finished.
I have found most of the products but I hope to find them as cheap as possible with a your help.

I have found a K&N airfilter for 60$ but would like to find one in the uk or eu to keep postage and taxes down. Thanks.

I would like a set of slip on akrapovics or full system, once I don't have to cut the original pipes.
I can find akrapovic pipes for sale but most sites have bad descriptions, I want dual pipes not a 2into1 exhaust.
Has anyone bought this type of system? If so from where, uk or eu prefaired. Thanks again.

Ohlins front springs and rear shock, I can find these no problem but where is the cheapest place to get them in Ireland, uk or EU. Cheers.

I plan on getting r1 callipers and master cylinder from a local breaker.

Can anyone tell me if they have changed the rear light? It is the only thing I don't like about the bike.
Apart from led lights what options are there?

Anyone upgraded the front bulbs? If so how?

I have lots of other little bits in mind so I hope you can help me through all the upgrades! Thanks a million, John.

P.s. Sorry if these have been covered before but it's a pain to search the Internet on an Iphone, takes forever!!!

I read somewhere you can put in a bigger wattage 3pin halogen bulb but don't have the spec to hand..

I have tried a whole lot of different "super" halogen bulbs, but as I see it, they are only marginally better.
I'm going to put in a xenon kit during the winter......

When I got my trx I did "cut down"-mod of the rear light.
Now I regret I did it. To me the original rear light is one of those details giving the trx its character.

The rear light never changed throughout the TRX production run. (very little did).

There are various solutions because many people don't like the standard TRX unit. R1 lights are popular and can be made to fit without much modification. There is of course no limit if you want to modify. This is mine, which is an Early R1 unit that I cut down and fitted LED clusters to:

Search the forum for alternatives (search for R1 rear light and you get 8 pages of stuff)
