Passed its MOT- yay and grr at the same time

I has my bike booked in for its MOT this morning at 8:30 (nice and early and enough time to sort anything out the same day if needs be) As it turned out, I did need to sort some stupid, stupid stuff out. The rear brake switch didn't work as soon as it was pressed but did actually work, the rh switch gear (kill switch) could be rotated around the bar (not easily, I might add) and the headlight aim was too low (a side effect of raising its rear and dropping its nose I think). Anyway, they were easily sorted out and I had it back within an hour for the retest, which it passed- yay!

Now, the 'grr' bit- I got an advisory for not having the pillion pegs fitted. It's a single seat bike, ffs, with no provision for a pillion!

Anyhoo, it's all MOTed and legal for another 12 months I think I'll go and put the open pipes back on (I didn't want to take the pee so put the standard pipes on and as the tester pulled the bike for some stupid stuff I think he'd have failed the pipes). The bike sounds crap with the standard pipes on

Wouldnt worry about an 'advisory' cos I think its useally given for something thats not yet at a fail stage but will be soon, like brake pads. Your pillion pegs aren't going to get more "not there" between now and next year.

The switchgear as standard has a plastic pin which locates on the hole in the clip-on. Both my switchgears have the pin missing and can be moved round by hand and the tester has never noticed! You can only really tighten them so tight anyway.

I know some people thing MOTs are a pain, but I look at it as having a well qualified mechanic give the bike a good health and safety check over and all for only a few quid, which must be good.

A through tester then. Of course, none of this crap actually affects safety

FWIW, I've seen evidence of a fail being given for no rear pegs

Just out if interest, I thought you have FCR's fitted? How does it run with original cans fitted?

Mine where just about the same but then i had the supercan installed before going to the track, top end suffered a bit but almost not noticeable.

Ok, I suppose. A bit woolly. Mind, the testing station is literally 2 minutes down the road so the bike didn't even get warmed through and I didn't get out of second gear! The open pipes went back on this morning Normal service is resumed

AAARRR what a pain in the %^se we've only just had to supply road worthy's the last 10yrs to get bikes regerstered here in sunny Queensland and there real basic... No wonder they call us the lucky country

Us here in Melbourne only have to supply a roadworthy when the rego is being transfered into another name,otherwise just pay your money every year.The argument is that yearly checks just make the testers rich and don't do anything to make the roads more safe.I'm starting to disagree after the weekend when I went riding after a bit of overnight rain.The roads were still wet and you could see all the oil spots left on the road by people who's vehicles should be put of the road untill fixed.There is plenty of them,probably enough to extend the worlds oil stocks for a number of years so perhaps if a vehicle is say over 10 years old then perhaps it should be inspected every year or two.
