Selling my TRX - maybe?

Have had the TRX for 6 years now and am giving consideration to selling.

i reckon i could let it go for £2500 and this would give me enough money to fund my next project

i know it's worth more than this broken and i'd recover (most if not all of) that on the major parts (the following being my thinking)

complete USD front end (inc blue spots etc) 450
FCR, K&N filters and pods 400
JMC braced swing arm (aeromax coated) 250
frame & v5 (aeromax coated) 100
100bhp engine (inc big bore kit, kent cams) 500
akra headers and Ti Devil SB2 can 350
bespoke bodywork 250

and then I'd still have spare bodywork, rearsets, spare wheels, clocks, CDI, loom & alarm, spare discs, led rear light and boxes of spares

what say the TRX massive? should i stay or should I go

Seriously, this must be a decision only you can make, for whatever reason.

Being a habitual fiddler and modifier (like me), there's a point when you can do no more to the bike so it then goes one of two ways: 1) Your satisfied it is customized to your taste and you rest on your laurels and enjoy it. 2) Theres no more fiddling to be done so it gets boring so you move on.

Only provisos to the above are if you are either selling cos you need the money, or have enough money for another bike as well as the TRX.

LOL - not going becasue Honk is considering selling up.

this has been on teh cards for a while and i really want to go racing and there is no class that the TRX would be competive in.

Keeping it is still a possibility (as I've also got an SV650 and a TDR250 in the garage) and if I can hide enough from the wife to buy a arce bike and still keep the TRX I will. Whatever happens, I need to own a road bike as well.

My head says sell as it's worth the most but my heart says keep it. I've invested so much time and money in the bike that I'm not sure i actually could let it go.

And no - I'm not taking £750.

There was a TDR sold on ebay recently for over £2000 It was very clean and with TZR wheels, but...

Whereas a similar mileage clean standard TRX sold for about £750. I know which of your bikes I'd sell!

Have to say, I don't understand why anybody would ever want to part with a TRX.
It's the only bike I've ever owned that has a soul.
OK, so they're no longer (probably never were) the fastest, best handling, most comfortable, practical, easiest bike in the market place ... but by God are they fun.
I dread the day that me and mine get parted (and mine's just a bog-standard ole' 'Rex, well with a couple of cheap n' cheerful bolt-on goodies).
There are lots of Honyamasukicati clones out there I would love to own, but it would have to be 'as well as' , not 'instead of'.
Anybody out there selling? ... You're mad I tell ya ! ... MAD !!!!

Send the Thunderbikes organisers an email- ok the TRX is 100cc and 2 valves over the allowed limits, but they're open to 'technically interesting' bikes. If your bike makes 100bhp and is heavy enough to meet the power to weight criteria (1bhp=4lb) it might be worth a try.

PRE-INJECTION AND STEEL FRAMED CLASSES
New for 2009, these classes will be incorporated into our program and add another “Credit Crunching” opportunity to race with NGRRC.

First Honk, now you, it's a conspiracy I tell you

It's sad that you have to sell (or at least think to), but I must agree that when you race, you want to be competitive!

That said, I can't get to the idea (like others here), that after such a long while you really want to get rid of the TRX.....
