Clutch Squeal - Was a solution ever found?

Hi All

I had a TRX in 1999/2000 at when you dropped the clutch from a standing start it squealed really badly, I've just got myself another TRX that was not put on the road until 2002 and has 19k on it and it exhibits the same characteristics as well as a bit of clutch slip when really opening the throttle (admittedely I may be putting a tad of pressure on the clutch lever during the manoevre)

Anyway the question is: Its a known problem but has anybody ever found a solution for this??

You have a couple of options but ultimatly the answer is live with it

You could try stiffer springs or drilling the clutch basket (you should find details on here)

gidday Mikey..sounds like your plates might have become glazed a little, i have experienced the situation, but only under extreme launch pressure..!
Any friction modified oil been in there.?

Gidday mate

The oil is fresh 10w30 Motul factory line and I have not added any friction reducers (not a big fan of them).

The friction plates may be glazed.

I need to start doing a bit of investigating and keep yowl posted.

As phuk said, the main culprit is the bottom plates being starved of oil. Some where on here is a pdf showing how to drill the basket to pick up more oil. I am just rebuilding my clutch and am just going to put in stiffer springs from Kedo and just live with what ever is left.

Thanks Devlin, I've had agood trawl through the forum and can't find the details of where to drill the clutch basket so if anybody cab remember the topic please do let me know?
I've had a result at work and got myself a new set of clutch springs and friction plates ( TRW do a range of motorcycle parts and TRX stuff is in there) and the plan is to do one set of components at a time to see if I can't locate the culprit for this clutch squeal issue.
