Bulb on my rev counter has gone so I thiught I'd investigate today.
Only access I could see was to remove the screen to access behind the dash, started to undo the 6 screws to discover that only one undoes the rest just spin
Is this the right way to get to the clocks or am I going the wrong way about it...

The easiest way is just to get the fairing off. Sounds weird, I know, but in the end it is not that much work and you can change the bulbs very easily.

Yes fairing will have to come off. Just be careful you don't drop the headlight

Yup, take the fairing off, not the screen.
IIRC, there's just 2 bolts holding the clocks to the fairing bracket (on either side), once they're off, changing the bulb is dead easy.
BTW, I'd recommend upgrading the bulbs to 5w T10's, they're far, far, far better than the 1.7w/3w bulbs. Think they're about £6 for a pack of 2 from Halfrauds (the "510" pack IIRC). Get a couple of packs and do your speedo & temp gauge at the same time. The 1.7w bulbs are fine in the idiot lights.

this thread gave me an idea, so i looked thru the tdm's spares box and found the LED 5w bulbs i got for its daytime running light.
Pack of ten off ebay incl postage was only a few dollars

I swapped the 4 main 3w bulbs in just a few minutes

Just need to wait till its dark now eh

Cheers
Fung

I WOULD RATHER WEAR OUT THAN RUST

I've put in LEDs too, but they produce less light compared to normal bulbs.

The Halfrauds pack is code "504".
